The Tallahassee Board of Realtors® Announces Support for Local Candidates in the September Primary Election
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 2006 – The Tallahassee Board of Realtors (TBR) is pleased to announce its support for candidates in the following local races: Leon County Commission, Districts 3, 4, and 5; Tallahassee City Commission, Seat 3; Leon County Superintendent of Schools; and Mayor.
Every election cycle, the Tallahassee Board of Realtors interviews candidates for local elections to learn each candidate’s views on issues affecting our community, to determine which candidates TBR will recommend. All TBR members are invited to attend the interviews, but only those members who complete candidate screening training are allowed to decide who will receive TBR support. “Our members have a big stake in the quality of life, availability of affordable homes, and economic development in the region, and we believe it is our responsibility to ensure that the candidates TBR supports are committed to making Tallahassee and the surrounding area a great place to live and work,” said Kenny Ayers, TBR President.
After careful consideration, TBR supports the following candidates in the September primary election: John Dailey, Leon County Commission – District 3; Will Messer, County Commission – District 4; Frank Mayernick, County Commission – District 5; Anthony Viegbesie, City Commission – Seat 3; Jackie Pons, Superintendent of Schools; and John Marks III, Mayor.
“Realtors interact daily with citizens from all walks of life and are very familiar with our communities’ problems and concerns. Because of this, it’s important Realtors play a vital role in government and politics,” said Mark Trafton, Chair, TBR Governmental Affairs Committee. He continued, “The candidates TBR has formally recommended share our values and will represent our communities and our interests in an outstanding manner.”
