REALTORS® support home ownership for all. As home values increase, conventional lenders provide innovative loan products to help most borrowers purchase a home. Buyers of more modest
means can receive down payment assistance from the Tallahassee Lenders’ Consortium (222-6609). The Florida Housing Finance Corporation (488-4197) also makes money available to bridge the gap for
qualified buyers with down payment help and reduced interest loan products.
But what about hard working families who just don't produce the income needed to qualify for one of these programs? Habitat for Humanity (574-2288) has been providing a way for the past 25 years. Qualified buyers invest their time and effort to build “sweat equity.” Habitat brings groups from the community together to provide the support needed to build these homes. You may have participated as a volunteer with your own church or business. The fundraising and volunteer labor from these
groups along with donations of supplies permits Habitat to provide these home buyers with a mortgage that is affordable, and a new home of their own in which to shelter their family.
This year, the Tallahassee Board of REALTORS® is sponsoring a Habitat home. REALTOR® and Affiliate members will raise $48,000 to cover the cost of building a home, and will provide the volunteer labor needed to build the home. Your friends and neighbors who belong to the Tallahassee Board of REALTORS® are proud to support home ownership for all with our words and our actions.
