CCIM: Galloway Scholarship Report

Short Sales & Convention—Galloway Scholarship Report

Alert: Are You Using Social Media, or Becoming a Dinosaur?
The real estate profession is evolving as an even more interactive social experience because of social media. We know that customers research and drive by our listings using their smartphones and tablets as navigation guides and QR Code readers.

HGTV Doesn't Make You an Expert!
A common theme amongst sellers, and buyers for that matter, is a conflicting battle between what they hear and what they see versus what their REALTOR® tells them. Whether it’s listening to a friend/neighbor or watching HGTV, it is important they understand the difference between entertainment and factual information.

"Go To" GRI 1 Online--Galloway Scholarship Report
What is a “disarming question?” What are the four negotiating principles? How do you hold yourself accountable for your business goals? Is it better to be a service or a product? These are questions I now have answers to thanks to the Galloway Scholarship. In 2012, I took Gee Dunsten’s Are you a Go-To Agent? and GRI 1 (online) from Florida REALTORS®. These courses were immensely useful in terms of knowledge gained.

President's Message, Jan. 2013
As the 2013 President of the Tallahassee Board of REALTORS®, let me begin with a message of thanks to all of our members, with special kudos to those who helped our association realize another great year in 2012: 2012 president, Debbie Kirkland; our officers and directors; the Leadership Academy graduates; and our ever-supportive Affiliates.

Mortgage Lending Outlook for 2013
With 2012 in the rear view mirror, and 2013 upon us, what should you be expecting from your local mortgage lending sources? There are going to many governmental regulatory changes that will be announced and/or implemented in 2013. Most of these changes are being implemented by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). These changes will affect the day to day practices of mortgage lenders and therefore affect how your clients apply for and obtain a mortgage approval.

Legal Update: Changes in the HUD Closing Statement
The federal Dodd-Frank Act in 2010 created a lot of good changes in financial matters across the country. But some of those changes may have unintended consequences in the real estate industry. These include major changes in the closing statement we see at every residential real estate closing. It also may limit who can prepare those closing statements.
